It’s once again the Double Ninth Festival, a time when we show filial piety and love for our elders everywhere. On October 25, Jinkou Township in Lushan West Sea organized various activities to express care and concern for the elderly and carry forward the traditional virtue of respecting and honoring seniors cherished by the Chinese nation.

The Jin Kou Township government organized a symposium for senior citizens to celebrate the Double Ninth Festival, featuring lion-dance performances and friendly gateball matches. In addition, it distributed condolence payments to retired cadres, demonstrating the Party and the government’s care and concern for the elderly, ensuring that seniors have support and enjoyment in their golden years.

Huang Jianping, a caring resident of Beili Village, Jin Kou Township, invited seniors aged 60 and above from the natural village of Liu Jialing to gather together joyfully and enthusiastically watch cultural performances staged and performed by the seniors themselves. They shared a heartwarming “reunion meal” together and distributed red envelopes to 46 seniors aged 60 and above, bringing happy smiles to their faces.

Actress Hu Wanping said, “The Double Ninth Festival is also known as the Elderly Day. To show filial piety, respect, and reverence toward the elderly, we’ve spontaneously organized a group to rehearse performances and participate in the Double Ninth Festival activities, wishing all seniors a happy holiday!”

The Senior Citizens’ Association of Shangfan Village, Jin Kou Township, invited amateur arts enthusiasts to create and direct their own performances—such as tea-picking operas, Huangmei Opera, and Peking Opera—on stage to celebrate the Double Ninth Festival. In doing so, they extended heartfelt care and blessings to the elderly residents of the entire village, just as one would offer to family members.
