The Most Beautiful Lake and Mountain Scenery—Lushan West Sea

The interview team arrived at Lushan West Sea in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. “Paddling on West Sea accompanied by the peach blossom jellyfish—what a beautiful sight! Even the air here tastes sweet!” said Ms. Wang, who was visiting the area. In recent years, Lushan West Sea has stepped up its efforts to build an ecological civilization and jointly pursue the “Great Protection of the Yangtze River.” As a result, “clear waters and green mountains” have truly become “golden mountains and silver hills,” helping local residents shake off poverty and achieve a moderately prosperous life. “Clouds in the sky, poetic beauty by the West Sea”—the Lushan West Sea Scenic Area, with its breathtaking scenery of vast, emerald waters dotted with thousands of islands resembling pearls scattered across the lake, is widely acclaimed as “China’s most beautiful lakeside landscape.” In recent years, the Lushan West Sea Scenic Area has adhered to a development philosophy of “green and ecological sustainability,” singing the praises of mountains and waters and carefully tending to the ecosystem, turning “a crystal-clear lake” into a secret recipe for happiness that benefits the local people!

In recent years, the Lushan Xihai Scenic Area has been making vigorous efforts to obtain the national “5A” scenic spot designation, striving to help local residents realize their dreams of prosperity. The radiating and driving effects of the 5A initiative are gradually becoming evident—boosting not only the region’s brand value but also exerting a profound impact on tourism-related industries and the tertiary sector. At the same time, the initiative has improved local residents’ living conditions and promoted employment opportunities. The commercial value generated by the construction of the distinctive town of Zhelin in Lushan Xihai has enabled many fishermen to identify promising business opportunities. As the 5A initiative continues to advance, restaurants, farm stays, homestays, and folk museums will keep expanding and developing accordingly. It is understood that currently, the entire town has 83 hotels and 55 farm-stay establishments, with the number of people employed in the tourism industry reaching 670.

Today is the Qixi Festival—let’s go on a date with the peach blossom jellyfish! A rare specimen of the peach blossom jellyfish has once again made its appearance in the waters of Lushan Lake in Jiangxi Province. The peach blossom jellyfish is one of the most primitive and least evolved invertebrate cnidarians on Earth, often referred to as the “panda of the water.” It has extremely high requirements for its ecological environment and will only appear in waters of Class I or higher quality. Today, the Lushan West Sea sees the appearance of the peach blossom jellyfish twice each year. In recent years, the Lushan West Sea Scenic Area has prioritized environmental protection above all else. In 2019, the area welcomed a total of 12.3912 million visitors, representing a 9.5% increase over the previous year; total tourism revenue reached 9.999 billion yuan, up 10.5% from the previous year.
