Lushan West Sea: The weather is getting colder, but study tours are heating up.

2019-11-24

On November 23, more than 900 teachers and students from the No. 2 Junior Middle School in Jinxian County, Nanchang, visited the Lushan Xihai National Research and Practice Education Base for Primary and Secondary School Students to carry out a study-and-practice activity themed “Exploring the Mysteries of Water Resources and Protecting the Ecological Environment.”

First, the students took a boat ride on Xihai Lake, observing the vegetation of the distant island archipelago and admiring the breathtaking scenery of the vast, emerald-blue waters dotted with thousands of islands. Under the guidance of their study tour instructors, they learned about the historical and cultural significance of the lake’s dams, as well as the morphological characteristics, habitat, and behavioral patterns of the “aquatic giant panda”—the peach blossom jellyfish. Afterwards, everyone boarded the “Grandma’s Island” to experience the agricultural culture zone. They listened carefully to their instructors’ explanations about water quality, explored the mysteries of water resources, and personally conducted experiments to assess the water quality of Xihai Lake. Through these hands-on activities, they gained a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting the ecological environment. They also enjoyed folk performances such as Sichuan Opera face-changing and suona music, fully immersing themselves in the vibrant culture of the Xiu River.

【Zhi Hanyu, No. 2 Junior Middle School of Jinxian County】Through the study-and-research program, I’ve come to understand that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.” We must conserve water and protect our water resources—starting with ourselves. The ecological environment here is truly wonderful! Next time, I’ll bring my mom, dad, grandparents along to visit (and have fun) too.
