Good News! Eighth Consecutive Win: Lushan Xihai Awarded the Title of “2023 China’s Premium Sports Tourism Scenic Area”

Recently, the Sports Culture Development Center of the General Administration of Sport of China announced the list of “2023 China Sports Tourism Boutique Projects,” with the Lushan Xihai Scenic Area honored as a “2023 China Sports Tourism Boutique Scenic Area.” This marks the eighth consecutive year since 2016 that Lushan Xihai has received this prestigious recognition.

According to reports, the promotion of China’s premium sports tourism projects is one of the key supporting events of the China Sports Culture Expo and the China Sports Tourism Expo. By developing a portfolio of representative and influential sports tourism destinations, itineraries, events, and regions, this initiative aims to meet public demand for diverse sports tourism options and further advance the deep integration and synergistic development of sports and tourism.

In recent years, Lushan Xihai has focused on health-oriented sports and leisure, making all-out efforts to establish itself as a national demonstration base for sports tourism and achieving remarkable results. Promote the construction of key projects to solidify the foundation for sports tourism. In 2022, priority was given to the renovation and upgrading of several projects featuring ball sports, including the Xihai Fleet Sports and Leisure Center, the Yaochi Bay International Fishing Center, the Lushan Xihai Water World, and the Xihai Hot Spring Disc Shooting Training Base, with a total investment of RMB 675 million. In addition, a number of “sports-plus-tourism” projects—such as a sports club, a land–sea–air club, and Zhongyu Sports—were successfully attracted to establish operations in Xihai.

Develop high-quality sports events to ignite hotspots in sports tourism. We successfully hosted a series of high-profile events, including the 2023 China Family Sailing Race—Jiujiang Lushan West Lake Station and the 3rd Lushan West Lake International Sailing Regatta; the 2023 Chinese Chess Children’s Tournament (Southern Region); the “Love in West Lake, Happy 520” Mini Marathon; the “Cheers for Basketball” Lushan West Lake Cup National Senior Basketball Tour; the 2022 National Middle School Tennis Championships; the 2022 National Soft Tennis Championships; the Provincial Mass Fitness Games Kite Competition; the Jiangxi Provincial Football Association Cup (Women’s U9); the Lushan West Lake Station of the China Angling Championship; the West Lake Dragon Boat Race; and the China Lushan West Lake Road Racing Gold League, thereby continuously enriching the substance and appeal of our signature branded sporting events.

Moving forward, Lushan Xihai will steadfastly advance the deep integration and development of “sports plus tourism,” fully leveraging its strengths as a premier water-sports brand. The region will increase investment in the sports-tourism industry, expand consumption scenarios, innovate consumption models, cultivate new forms of consumer offerings, and build a diversified, integrated, high-quality cultural, tourism, and sports consumption system. This effort will help continuously consolidate and enhance the brand quality of Lushan Xihai as a national 5A-level tourist attraction, further elevate its distinctive “Sports Xihai” identity, and accelerate the development of a livable, work-friendly, and visitor-friendly destination while establishing a year-round, all-season, comprehensive tourism framework.
